Antyodaya Chetana Mandal was established by a group of young and energetic Gandhians in the year 1982 who were highly motivated and committed for contributing their time, knowledge, skills,service and energy for the development and empowerment of socially disadvantaged and vulnerable tribal communities, most backwarded poor communities
Antyodaya Chetana Mandal was established by a group of young and energetic Gandhians in the year 1982 who were highly motivated and committed for contributing their time, knowledge, skills,service and energy for the development and empowerment of socially disadvantaged and vulnerable tribal communities, most backwarded poor communities in rural and tribal areas of Mayurbhanj ,Keonjhar and Kandhamal Districst of Odisha , India and addressing poverty, Health ,Livelihood, Social transformation of the Lodha an excrminal tribe who were treated as thieves in Mayurbhanj ,illiteracy , education,Livelihood of the poor and tribal children , gender based discrimination and environmental issues. The volunteers trained in Gandhian concept of development founded the organization to devote them self towards the upliftment of the tribal, dalits and the down trodden with their social, economic, cultural, educational and health aspects with a wholistic development .
Type & Nature and background of Organisation
ACM is a Gandhian voluntary organisation,non-profit, non-political organisation working for the social-development of vulnerable, downtrodden and backwarded communities and its people. It could be also labeled as an implementing organisation which designs and implements various developmental projects for the promotion of a self-reliant and self-sustainable society where the poorest of the poor in the community will lead peaceful and prosperous life with mutual understanding and cooperation for achieving a new social and economic order.
Year of Establishment
Antyodaya Chetana Mandal, ACM was founded in the year 1982 and registered in Mayurbhanj District as a voluntary organisation under Societies Registration Act .
Vision
· Every being either human, animal or any other living being is equal and has the same rights to live on this planet with dignity.
· Promotion of a self reliant & self-sustainable society on the concept of Gram Swaraj ( Village republic)and the all-round development of Adivasis, dalits and other unprivileged communities through balanced utilization & management of both human & natural resources, promotion of village industry & community health. A community maintaining happy & harmonious life with equal dignity for men & women and fighting against all sorts of injustice and exploitation through non-violent means. A life of freedom and dignity to everyone regardless race, ethnicity and gender, free of violence and human right abuses. Justice and peace are our vision.
· ACM envisions a poverty-free, empowered & democratic community guided by the values of Mahatma Gandhi of equity, accountability, transparency, inclusion and respect to every living being.
· Antyodaya Chetana Mandal is a non-political and non-profit organisation to respond the current need of the needy people in order to strengthen and sustain and promote human right culture, peace building, good governance initiatives and tackle humanitarian and community crises in Odisha.

Mission
· Antyodaya Chetana Mandal's mission is working togetherness for the development & empowerment of socio-economically disadvantaged & vulnerable poor and backwarded communities, mainly the tribal communities in Mayurbhanj District of Odisha to assist them in addressing their poverty- linked issues for their upliftment and betterment.
· The organisation enables the poor and tribal communities to make choices about the way their country to be governed and lead prosperous future to engage on human rights, humanitarian issues, developments and capacity buildings. That is based on participatory approach by all levels of the community on their priorities for the future through ACM.
· The organisation is aimed to tackle the humanitarian crisis including draught and disaster prevention and develops community basic social services needs and creates employment opportunities and income generation projects for the youth, women and poor rural communities to reduce the level of poverty and contribute national government goals.
Broad Objectives
Following are broad objectives of ACM
- Promotion of livelihoods and explore sustainable & disaster resilient livelihoods options
- Disaster risk reduction, provide timely relief assistance to disaster affected communities and assist them in their timely rehabilitation and early recovery
- Promotion of education with special focus on girl's education and drop out students in the tribal region of the state and specially in the tribal dominated areas of Mayurbhanj district.
- Promotion of gender equality and women empowerment
- Promoting of trainings and capacity building to local and civil society in supporting the local initiatives and advocacy protection for all human being to create positive, peaceful environment and develop society, politically, economically through out the state and nation
- To promote income generating activities and create vocational skills to become self sufficient and reduce the level of poverty living
- Provision of accessible & clean drinking water and quality sanitation facilities and improvement of community physical infrastructure
- Promotion of child & youth development and health
- Promote environment protection and address climate change issues
- Promote the quality of life through health services to poor by establishing preventive, curative and integrated health care services in the tribal and poor.
- Support Development of Civil Society and Institutional development
- Blindness control, Mother & child health is the growing concern to be managed by establishing community based hospitals in the region.
- Health Services to the people who are not reachable through Mobile Health Units .
- Promoting, implementation and initializing of peace building activities
- To promote Understanding better relationship among the communities and attitude change for working together for peace and development in the society and creating good atmosphere in the whole
- To promote a human rights culture and peace in community and society by working towards awareness raising, mobilization, on attitude change and empowerment of the marginalized communities in order to protect the rights of all persons.
- To develop models and demonstration on Climate Garden, Sustainable Agriculture practices through organic farming ,water harvesting structure for alternative to drought.
- To promote internal discussions among human rights activists, on the work of media and journalists toward local and national heal and development
